Born in the US and a French citizen by choice, Josephine Baker appeared for the first time with the Revue Nègre at the Nelson Theater on Kurfürstendamm Berlin in 1925. The book contains contributions from contemporary artists who seek to visualise and articulate Baker's lasting inspiration and reflects on the changed role of the African American artist in contemporary discourse.
